FAQ

• Are WebP covers supported?−

  Yes — WebP is supported, along with JPEG, PNG, GIF, BMP, TIFF and ICO. AVIF, HEIC and SVG are not supported yet.

• How do I tell archives apart from regular image files in Explorer?+

  Open ArcThumb Configuration and enable "Mark archives with a coloured border" and "Mark archives with a format label" (both are off by default). Once enabled, archive thumbnails carry a format-coloured frame and a small label (CBZ, EPUB, ...) in the corner. Explorer caches thumbnails, so if the change doesn't appear right away, clear the thumbnail cache or nudge the affected files to force a refresh.

• Does it work on Windows 10?+

  Yes. ArcThumb runs on Windows 10 and later (tested on Windows 11).

• Do I need administrator rights?+

  No. By default ArcThumb installs per-user under HKCU.

• Can I use it commercially?+

  Yes. ArcThumb is dual-licensed under MIT or Apache-2.0 — pick whichever fits your project.

• Windows shows "Windows protected your PC" — is this safe?+

  ArcThumb isn't yet code-signed, so Microsoft Defender SmartScreen may flag the installer on first run. Click "More info" → "Run anyway" to proceed. Sources and builds are public on GitHub — you can verify the SHA-256 against the Releases page if you'd like.
